A parure of a Khula Khud and a Sipar

dating: 19th Century provenance: North India, Khula khud with a spherical skull, peak with a flower-shaped stud (cusp missing), movable nosepiece between two plum-holders, pierced border to accommodate a missing mail neck-defence. All the surface is finely chiselled with floral motifs and partially gilded.Big, iron sipar (diameter 56.7 cm) of a circular, convex shape, provided with four, circular, convex studs with richly pierced border, finely decorated with floral motifs in gold, reinforced borer and silver inlaid floral band as an edge. In the center a medallion with a man fighting a lion with shield and katar, surrounded by three increasing in width with the king on horseback, warriors on horseback or on elephants, civil figures on foot, warriors with rifles, flags etc., wagon with cannon and different animals. First two bands divided by a flower ring, the second and the third with a ring featuring inscriptions probably Hindu, all decorated in gold. Red velvet padded liner inside (worn-out) with two leather enarmes covered with velvet remains. height helmet 25 cm.
