Round, smooth-bore, 18 mm cal. barrel, with octagonal base, marked with crowned shield and St. Etienne stamp, with fore-sight, clutch for a bayonet. Tang with sight. Backward spring lock, marked "MERLEY & TOURBETTE A ST. ETIENNE" and stamped "MT". Wooden, full stock, stamped with crowned monogram "CA" (for king Carlo Alberto). Iron mounts. Complete with ramrod and socket bayonet (length 52.5 cm). First War of Independence period.
