A POLYCHROME WOOD FIGURE OF GUANYIN
China, early Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The finely carved statue shows Guanyin seated in dhyanasana, her hands folded in dhyana mudra. She is wearing a crown as well as long flowing robes and is depicted with a benevolent smile. The back with a rectangular opening.
Condition: Overall fine condition with old wear, as expected and commensurate with age. Natural age cracks, chips, and wormholes. Showing remnants of polychrome lacquering.
Provenance: Gallery Venezia Oriente. Croatian private collection, acquired from the above. A copy of the original certificate for this piece from Gallery Venezia Oriente, dating the piece to the Qing dynasty, accompanies this lot.
