A Painted Cast Iron Figural Group of Swans and Cygnets
A figural group depicting a pair of adult swans and two cygnets, cast in heavy metal, likely iron. The naturalistic composition features the adult swans with gracefully curved necks, one with wings slightly raised, set amongst two smaller cygnets at the base. The figures are mounted on a tiered circular pedestal base. The top tier of the base is finished with blue paint to represent water, while the lower section features a gadrooned or fluted decorative border highlighted with gold-tone paint against a dark ground. The entire piece is finished in white paint with black details to the beaks and eyes of the birds. No maker's marks, signatures, or factory stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Height: 12 inches.
