A Pair of Austrian Empire Carved, Ebonized, and Giltwood Mantel Clocks, Circa 1810
one with Viennese grande sonnerie movement, three train resting barrel, with bells (one bell from a carriage clock with two holes), the other with gongs and alterations to movement; re-enamelling to dials and one with hands replaced

height 14 in.; width 19 1/4 in.; depth 5 1/2 in.
35.6 cm; 48.9 cm; 14 cm

Condition Report:
Some feet replaced and bases slightly reduced in depth. Each with scattered chips, losses to carving and gilt and ebonized surfaces revealing gesso, bole, and bare wood in areas. A few scattered treated wormholes to figures. The back edges of bases with holes possibly from previous mounts or attachments. Gilt wood back covers for clock movements later.

Clock with standing figure:
The chariot's shaft with a pierced hole on end likely for mount or yoke which is now lacking. Clock frame with repaired breaks to axles of wheel and to rim, and dial re-enamelled. Movement with possible alterations, not examined out of case. With one winding key and pendulum.

Clock with the seated figure:
Repaired break to horse's hoof, small repairs and replacements to elements throughout. Figure previously holding reins. Dial with re-enamelling. With one winding key and pendulum. Movement not examined out of case.
