A Pair of Chinese ‘Lotus’ Bowls
Each painted in Ming style to the interior in underglaze blue with a continuous pattern of meandering lotus scrolls borne on undulating leafy stems, the rims with a band of flower heads interspersed with branches, the exterior similarly decorated with further leafy lotus blossoms, the base with a six-character mark in blue of Tongzhi. Period: Tongzhi (1862‑1873). Diameter: 15.5 cm.
