A Pair of Dugan Glass Bowls - Double Stem Ruffled.

A pair of matching iridescent pressed glass footed bowls produced in the United Kingdom, dating from the mid-20th century. The lot comprises:

Two footed bowls manufactured in an amber-toned marigold glass, treated with a heavy metallic iridescent finish that displays a spectrum of pink, green, and blue oil-slick colours. Each bowl features a deep, crimped ruffled rim and a circular pedestal base. The interior of each piece is decorated with a pressed floral pattern featuring a central multi-petaled rose surrounded by teardrop panels and six smaller roses interspersed with leaves against a stippled orange peel texture.

The underside of the pedestal base (photo 4) features an embossed circular glassmaker's mark. The mark contains a stylized monogram, however, the characters are not clearly legible as a specific name at this resolution. A visible vertical mold line is present on the pedestal base, characteristic of the pressed glass manufacturing process.

More Information

The pair of bowls is in near mint condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the ruffled rims or pedestal bases (photo 1). The iridescent finish shows some minor surface scratches and areas of light wear to the lustre on the high points of the interior floral pattern and the crimped edges (photos 2 and 3). A manufacturing mold line is visible on the pedestal base (photo 5), which is an artifact of production rather than damage.
