A Pair of Napoleon III Gilt Bronze Mounted Ebonized Meubles d'Appui
third quarter 19th century
each having a shaped marble top with canted corners above two aligned drawers and two cabinet doors flanked by cylindrical pilasters headed by Corinthian capitals, raised on a conforming bracket base.
Height 50 3/4 x width 46 x depth 19 inches.

Each in decent, stable, usable condition. Both marble tops intact without repairs, some minor chips to edge. Cases with fairly even ebonized finish, some scattered light surface wear (nicks and scratches) consistent with age and use. Most metal mounts appear present, some of the inlays are loose. One pilaster detached but retained. One central molding to doors detached but retained, the other not present. Drawers open and close smoothly, some looseness to hinges on doors. Interiors each with two shelves, back boards to each drilled. One with age split to a door, the other with split to side.
