宋 彩繪木雕獅一對
each carved seated on the its haunches on a lotus base, one grasping a lotus blossom with its one forepaw, one raised its forepaw scratching its ear with mouth slightly open and tongue curled upwards.
Height of figure 7 1/2 in., 19 cm.

Previously acquired from Christie’s New York, June 3, 1988. For a similar pair, please refer to Chinese Sculpture in the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Alan Priest, New York, 1944, pls. CVII and CVI, Catalogue no 61, accession no, 28.187.2.
Condition Report: Each in overall decent and stable condition, wear and some losses of paint throughout. some small chips and shallow age cracks to the wood.
