A Pair of Victorian Silver Entrée-Dishes, Cover and Handles by James and Nathaniel Creswick, Sheffield, 1854
shaped square and with foliage and shell-heightened border and with two shell-grips, the covers similarly decorated and with foliage-cast handles, engraved with a crest 32.5cm wide over handles, 91oz 2dwt, 2,833gr (2)
Each fully marked under dish and on cover and under handle. There is some wear to the marks, this is particularly noticeable to the marks on the covers, some of which are only just visible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points and to the engraving. A Condition Report is an honest expression of our opinion, not a statement of fact and is provided as a service to the Seller. All lots are available on public view ahead of an auction and we encourage people to see an item in person when possible. Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated. Works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. We accept no liability for the opinions expressed in any Condition Report. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
