A Pair of Vintage Blue Grass Belknap Hardware Electric Soldering Irons

This pair of vintage American electric soldering irons features tools produced under the Blue Grass brand by the Belknap Hardware & Manufacturing Co. The first iron has a blue-painted tapered wooden handle with a multi-colored fabric-covered power cord and a coiled metal cord protector. The handle bears a colorful adhesive label with a red and blue shield design reading BLUE GRASS, LOUISVILLE U.S.A., EXTRA QUALITY, TRADE MARK, and Belknap HARDWARE & MFG. CO. A yellow circular adhesive label on the reverse of the handle shows the printed black UL logo of Underwriters Laboratories. The metal collar of this iron is stamped NO. 710, 150W 120V, and U.S.A. The second iron features a ribbed cylindrical brown-finished wooden handle and a black plastic-jacketed power cord. It bears a similar adhesive label reading BLUE GRASS, LOUISVILLE U.S.A., EXTRA QUALITY, and TRADE MARK. Both tools are constructed with steel shafts featuring three circular cooling fins near the handle and large copper-alloy pointed tips. The blue iron measures approximately 13 3/4 inches in total length. The brown iron measures approximately 13 1/4 inches in total length.
