A Pale Celadon Nephrite Landscape Plaque with Russet Skin, 49AR
This rectangular jade plaque features softly rounded corners. One side is smooth and plain, showcasing natural warm russet skin and soft cloud-like inclusions within the pale celadon nephrite. The reverse is carved in relief with a detailed mountain waterscape scene: layered peaks, pine trees, pavilions, a bridge and figures boating on the river, making clever use of the natural russet skin to accent the landscape. The landscape motif symbolises peace, seclusion and harmonious nature in traditional Chinese art. The jade has a gentle pale celadon base with patches of golden-brown skin, polished to a lustrous smooth finish. Dimensions: 7 cm x 4 cm
Condition
All lots offered are sourced from a private estate and sold "as is, where is". Age-related wear, restoration, losses and imperfections are normal attributes of antique works of art. Period attributions, dynasty dates and chronological descriptions within lot headings are supplied for reference purposes only. It is the sole responsibility of the bidder to assess and verify the actual age and authenticity of each lot. The absence of a reference to a defect does not imply the lot is free from damage or restoration. The auctioneer makes no warranty as to condition, age or authenticity of any lot.
