A Pale White Jade 'Tiger beneath Pine Tree' Rectangular Plaque Carving, 20th Century, 65AM
This elegant rectangular plaque is finely worked from smooth pale white jade, presenting a uniform, softly luminous pale tone across its surface. The plaque features subtle relief carving depicting a tiger seated beneath a sprawling pine tree, with defined pine boughs and needle clusters arching overhead, the tiger's form carefully modelled to convey quiet strength within the scene. The paired tiger and pine motif traditionally symbolises courage, noble spirit and enduring longevity in Chinese decorative iconography. The jade matrix is largely clean, with only faint, subtle natural internal veining visible. The carving uses low?relief modelling with gentle flowing lines, and the plaque is finished with a smooth, refined polish, its edges neatly rounded. Dimensions: 6 cm x 4 cm
