A Petition for the "Needs" of the Negro Community in Montgomery

4pp, measuring 8.5" x 14", Montgomery, Alabama, no date. A typed petition, calling for the betterment of Montgomery's black communities, reading in part:

"It is a disturbing fact that Montgomery is lagging far behind every city of its size in the area of race relations. It is regrettable that our city has neglected its responsibility to its citizenry. Therefore, we, the undersigned citizens are moved to state as clearly as possible our needs; to call public attention to their urgency and ask that they be granted:" The document then goes on to list necessary steps needed to be taken in the sectors of Employment, Social Improvements, and Religion. Signed by at 48 individuals in blue and black ink. With flattened folds and light edge toning. Creased and dog-eared corners. Pages have been stapled together at the top left corner.
