A QAJAR BRASS BELT BUCKLE WITH THE IMPERIAL ORDER OF THE LION AND SUN

An ornamental belt buckle (segk-e kamarband), rectangular in shape, made from cast ormolu metal, with the Lion and Sun (Shir-o-Khorshid) motif in the center, the outer border with crisp foliate chasing, the back lined with green Moroccan leather, with the maker's mark 'R' by the fastening loop; belt buckles bearing this national emblem would have been worn by officials, military pesonal and affluent citizens.
