A Queen Anne walnut and burr walnut bachelor's chest, circa 1710, the hinged top opening to a baize inset interior, above two short and three long graduated drawers, on bracket feet, 72cm high, 67cm wide, 32cm deep

Provenance: Private collection from a country house, Derbyshire

Condition Report:
Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use Old chips and splits, some old repairs, some small losses. Some additional fading/ dark staining scratches in areas. Some minor evidence of old worm damage. The feet, drawer linings appear original. There are some repairs to the feet and some later blocks supporting the reverse/ underside of the feet. The rear panels are old replacements and have some later nails securing. The baize inset is tired, torn, worn, discoloured and requires replacement. The handles, locks and escutcheons all appear original and there are no alternate fixtures. Some of the wire fixtures of the handles bear losses. Some gilding to the handles and fixtures remains. Overall of cleaned/ polished appearance. some possible use of later varnish. A very nice example of its type, largely in original condition (see all condition notes).
