A RABAT CARPET, MOROCCO
A RABAT CARPET, MOROCCO
early 19th century, or earlier
approximately 570 by 195cm; 18ft. 8in., 6ft. 5in.
Condition Report:
Multi-wefted weave typical of Rabat carpets. Pile generally fair to low overall. End border removed at upper end. Three noticeable splits in field, probably as a result of fold wear: these need attention. Lovely colour and an early example. Carpet would benefit from a clean and judicious restoration and conservation but rare and worth preserving.
