A RARE AND VERY FINE PORCELAIN SERVICE SHOWING 'PEOPLES OF RUSSIA' Russian, St. Petersburg, Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, period of Alexander II (1855-1881) Comprising a tea jug, a sugar bowl with cover and a cup and saucer. Each piece reserved with the representation of different nationalities. The borders decorated with strapwork. Marked under base with green underglaze Imperial cyphers for Alexander II. and impressed numerals. Gilding minimally worn, the cup minimally restored. 7.3-19 cm high, Diam. 14.8 cm. rest. Russia started manufacturing porcelain in the middle of the 18th century, taking after Western Europe.
