(A) RARE ATTRACTIVE ENGLISH CASED COLT THUER 1851 NAVY CONVERSION REVOLVER.

Of all Colt factory conversions, this is the rarest and most sought after. 7 - 1/2" octagon barrel with single line New York address, cone front sight, hammer notch rear sight, and 1 piece plain walnut grips. English proof marks observed on left side of barrel lug. Matching serial numbers observed at barrel, wedge, frame, trigger guard, cylinder arbor, and butt. Replacement rammer has been forced matched. Conversion plate and conversion cylinder are both numbered with factory conversion number "61". Complete with English partitioned factory casing with correct label, rare empty Colt tin for Thuer cartridges, empty Japanned tin of Eley percussion caps, 1860 Army percussion cylinder, bullet mold, turnscrew/cone wrench combination tool, oiler, and desirable complete set of Thuer cartridge reloading tools/fixture. CONDITION: Very good, with a significant majority of the original factory bluing remaining on barrel mixing with a brown patina and high edge wear. Replacement rammer shows bright case colors. Cylinder scene is crisp with traces of original bluing present. Conversion plate retains a vast majority of its original bluing. Hammer is a replacement. Frame is essentially a gray patina with faded original colors visible in well protected areas. Back and front stap are mostly a gray patina with bright original bluing visible in protected areas. Grips retain a majority of their finish with areas of finish loss scattered throughout. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is dark with well-defined rifling. Case is very good with original label.
