A RARE BOSTON DANCE HALL DECORATION, CIRCA 1905, BLACK AMERICANA JIM CROW FIGURES
Eight Groups of Black Dandy Figures, chromolitho on paper, mounted on cardstock and arranged on a half round framed mahogany plank in a narrative sequence that appears to revolve around an imposing man in a green broad brimmed hat, who repeats along with his men and women friends in various stances, originally from a South Boston dance hall, brought up to a Norway, Maine cottage in the 1960s. Overall 16 1/2" x 98" (8'-2"), the lithos have darkened and are slightly encrusted with smoke residue.
