A RARE CARVED WOOD BENIN SCULPTURE of a CHIEFTAIN
with characteristic wide open eyes, extensively decorated with copper sheet segments. The warrior chieftain is wearing a reinforced head cap (helmet) ribbed to imitate a typical Benin hairdo and he is adorned with the full trappings of a warrior, with copper sheet cover to his nose, the neck with armor rings and with two side protrusions in the form of horns (loss to one horn). 21 inches long. Crate size 23 1/2 x 13 1/2 x 12 inches
