A RARE CLOISONNE ENAMEL 'FULL-FACED' DRAGON DISH
17th century
Decorated on a turquoise-blue ground throughout, the center with a full-faced four-clawed dragon with writhing body above a flaming pearl set within a roundel bordered by green waves and white bubbling and frothy waves, all below a rounded cavetto with twelve lotus heads on a formalized leafy scroll, the everted rim with twenty-four small ruyi-head motifs on a leafy running scroll and gilt copper rim, the underside with six formalized lotus heads on leafy scrolls centered by a small roundel with a curving ten-petaled flower head to the slightly convex base, the rounded sides and rim of the dish with ten formalized scrolling lotus and a thin ruyi-band mirroring the interior, supported on a thin gilt copper foot rim with fourteen reticulated ruyi-shaped cloud panels
