A RARE EARLY 20TH C. WOOD STAVE NANTUCKET BASKET
The swing handle on copper pivots is mounted to an upper rim of two oval bands secured to vertical staves joining the oval pine base, each stave has a lollipop terminal partially obscured by the top bands to create a visual picket fence of rounded tops and circular openings, rattan weave incorporates each stave.
The features of this basket that suggest a Nantucket origin (attributed to whaling ship cooper's barrel-making techniques) include the feature of vertical wood staves encircled by bentwood rims joining an oval base of solid wood.
Measures 7.5 x 9 x 8 inches including the handle.
We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.
Until further notice, we cannot offer international shipping in-house.
Condition Report: Very good condition, noting some stave top chips as shown.
