Condition Report:
This academic chair shows great age. It may originally have been a folding chair. The shape of the back may well have been square or rectangular originally. This piece is in a distressed condition and will require some workshop attention. There is evidence of old worm and a notable fracture which will require consolidation as the piece in its current condition cannot be sat upon and is of an unsteady stance. There is much evidence of old repairs, in the form of metal strengthening brackets evident to the legs. Interestingly wear and losses to the yellow velvet reveal very small sections of yellow damask to the arms. Possibly originally upholstered all over.
