A RARE HOWLING CAT ELECTRICAL TRIGGER GALLERY TARGET

[ translate ]

The rare iron shooting gallery target cast as a tom cat with red haunches and white body in old park paint, the 'mouth' an opening to a hinged cast iron hammer. When struck, the hammer would contact an iron ball in teeter-totter like channel, the channel would tilt from the weight of the shifting ball and complete a circuit which could then light a bulb or sound a buzzer. The surface retains layers of old park paint and the bullseye hammer is heavily shot-peened with interesting orange peel surface. This target is attributed to J.T. Dickman, Los Angeles, CA or possibly H.W. Terpening, Ocean Park, CA. Illustrated in a copper stencil on page 19 of Dickman's 1921 Catalog E. Also possibly illustrated in a 1951 Terpening catalog with a part number of 75X.

Pictured on page 61 of Sellers' book (Figure 4.13).
Displayed on custom iron stand.

Measures 20.25 x 11.25 x 10.75 inches, excluding stand.

We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.
Condition Report: Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear. No iron ball is present. The surface with good old paint.
