A RARE QURAN MINIATURE, TURKEY, COPIED IN

For his excellence Abu ‘Abdallah Yusef, ls de‘ Abdallah al-Qunawi al- Hana.
Arabic manuscript of 26 leaves, calligraphy of 75 lines per page of black “naskh” micrograph on golden page. The illuminated opening frontispiece indicates that the calligrapher is a woman: Fatimah, bint Omar al-Qunuti, that the Koran was copied for his excellence Abu ‘Abdallah Yusef, ls of‘ Abdallah al-Qunawi al-Hana in the well-kept city of Constantinople. This first page is followed by a double opening frontispiece. The titles of the suras are in red “naskh” and the verses are separated by red dots. All pages have several marginal illuminations.
The colophon is dated 1288 AH, located in Constantinople.
Beautiful flap binding in embossed and gilded brown morocco decorated with foliage.
14 by 10 cm.
