A RARE ROMAN GLASS MAGIC INSCRIBED PENDANT SET ON GOLD, CIRCA 1ST CENTURY A.D.
This oval-shaped pendant consists of a central glass paste intaglio set with a gold mount whose frame is openwork in the shape of rounded leaves.
Suspension ring with three ribbons. The magic scene features the god Pantheos-Bès presented naked from the front, the legs apart and bent (like the god Bes); his head adorned with the hemhem crown, he wears wings and a feathered tail. Arms outstretched, he holds a scepter in each hand. Standing on a lion presented in profile facing left, itself resting on a tabula ansata containing a magical inscription: "ΦΥΛΑΞΟΝ...".
