A RARE VARIANT CAST ZINC OWL SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET
The owl was a favorite subject of shooting gallery target manufacturers. This completely unique example is very thick and heavy, the style bears a resemblance to owls made by the Chicago Manufacturers shown in Sellers' book and is cast from zinc. Weight 12 pounds. (Figures 5.26, 5.27 and 5.28). This is the only example the Tuckers have seen or heard of in their 30 years of collecting.

Condition Report: Very good condition. The surface of this target is like nothing else. Created by age, exposure, and hundreds of tiny divots as if from the peening of a small hammer it has a dry, variegated abstract orange peel-like effect unlike that of other antique objects.
