Rectangular, with a domed kabusebuta (overhanging) lid decorated in gold and black lacquer with inlays of shell and pewter with Ariwara no Narihira on horseback, the interior with a continuous design of pine trees, fitted with a rectangular inkstone, the water dropper now lost
