A ROMAN STYLE RED FIGURE POLYCHROME BRONZE OINOCHOE WINE VESSEL, POSSIBLY ALEXANDRIA, IN THE 1ST CENTURY BC/1ST CENTURY AD TASTE, painted in the Boeotian style, cream, orange, black, and red painted bronze with a gilt painted circular flared mouth over a tapered neck with geometric circular, line, meander and wave motifs over palmettes and a vis-à-vis male and female birds, slightly pronounced shoulders joined by a sinuous handle with relief flowering vines ending with a cast and polychromed head of a faun/satyr mask, the vessel body painted with a figure of a nude female bather, one side she reaches for a striped towel cloth that drapes over a klismos chair with zig-zag upholstery and a footstool underneath, the figure's back with an unusual furnishing, a ball finial topped curved bench or table with stripes, stands on a tapered support ending with a flared foot with decorative bosses, the unusual furniture stands dutifully waiting for the repeated female figure verso to toss her towel atop it. Height: 12" Diameter: 7"
Condition Report: Loses of enameled paint decoration, surface scratches, some patina throughout, dust, but overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age.
