The serpentine shaped leather-lined top with gilt tooling within an ormolu surround, the corners veneered a quatre faces with female mask clasps, above a deep and slightly serpentine case with recessed frieze drawer flanked to each side by a pair of drawers, the reverse with sham drawers, the sides each mounted with a pierced ruffle-cast C-scroll and foliate mount, the angle mounts with trailing foliage, on foliate-cast sabots, stamped to rear edge underside of carcase 'ROUSSEL' and 'JME', beneath left drawer with brand to center underside 'BT CP' within an oval surmounted by a closed royal crown, with ink number '17927' locks replaced and stamped 'CHUBB LONDON'
