A RUSSIAN ICON OF SAINTS MOSCOW 1885. Comprising an icon depicting full length images of The Holy Martyr Natalia (left) and The Holy Martyr Adrian (right). At top center Christ delivers a blessing. The entire image overlaid with an extensively engraved and repousséd silver oklad hallmarked Moscow, dated 1885 and with maker's mark AK for Antip Kuzmechev and with 84 standard. Icons such as the offered lot were often commissioned for a bride and groom with the name saints of each being depicted. They were also often commissioned as gifts to parents on a special occasion. 14 inches x 10.75 inches (35.5 x 27.5 cm).
