India, made for the Indonesian market, a very fine example of carvings depicting floral motifs and turned columns, on turned legs and stretchers with caned seat. Provenance: out of estate of a dignitary in Indonesia approximately 1900 then brought to the Netherlands. A comparable chair may be found in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and Boymans Museum van Beuningen in Rotterdam, 52 x 93 x 44 cm.
