A Rare Mulberry Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Mark Hawkins, St Edmunds Bury, early 18th century, flat top pediment, glazed side panels, nicely figured case with a crossbanded trunk door and a glass lenticle, crossbanded plinth, 12-inch square brass dial with a silvered chapter ring signed, matted dial centre, seconds dial, floral and bird engraved decoration around the date aperture, five pillar movement with an anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell, 206cm high see illustration

Mark Hawkins (Senior) (1674-1750) was a Suffolk clockmaker, working in both Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket. He died in 1750, but two of his three sons, William Hawkins and Mark Hawkins continued as clockmakers.

01.10.20 Case with a good original colour, case with small chips to the edges in parts, some wood worm holes in parts which are not active, later skirting around the bottom of the plinth, dial and movement are clean, movement in going order, with two weights and a pendulum, with winding key and door key and two brass cased weights
