A Regency mahogany side cabinet

[ translate ]

A Regency mahogany side cabinet, circa 1815, the central pair of pleated silk doors opening to a shelved interior, flanked by a doors opening to a shelf and a fitted drawer to one side, and a door opening to three sliding trays to the other, 92cm high, 168cm wide, 48cm deep

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, This did not originally have any handles, these were conceived as blind frieze drawers - the handles are therefore later additions and not how this piece was conceived, they are however stylistically correct for the piece. The silk pleating is probably more recent, this almost certainly had it originally this was probably restored when the handles were fitted, the piece also has a polished appearance suggesting a restorer has had this previously. The drawer linings with stains and marks, the cellaret drawer previously divided, these divisions have been cut back, there are also losses to the lining. This has all three slides. Old splits and cracks, some repairs and restorations to veneers No keys present The top is a finer cut of mahogany than the remainder - there is some colour variation overall - the catalogue image is a fair representation of the appearance
