A Rhenish late Gothic trunk carved from a single tree, 15th century
Massive body worked in one piece from an oak trunk. Heavy lidded oak, attached by forged iron strap hinges. To the front, three iron drop bolts with staples for padlocks (the central bolt missing). On the top, a movable iron pull-ring and seven separate coin slots. Security chain attached to the right side of the bottom. Interior with a modern softwood insert to catch the coins.
