A Roman mosaic glass Patella, circa late 1st century BC - 1st century AD, formed from cane sections of black and red, the carinated exterior with two convex curves, on a short foot, 5cm. high x 9cm diam. Provenance: Purchased in 1994 from the Dr Hans Peter Trimbacher Collection, Austria. Dr Trimbacher is the architect that restructured the castle of Burg Plankenstein in Lower Austria in the mid-1970s.
