Hammer

£200

A Royal Worcester porcelain vase, mid 19th century, the central amphora held aloft by three eagle's talons emerging from a trefoil base, the body hand enamelled with birds among foliage (possibly by John Hopwell), gilt jewel effect banding to the shoulders and gilt band with continuous floral and foliate frieze to the foot, impressed maker's mark and RD lozenge for 1867 to base, 17.5cm high

More Information

The piece shows small chips to the foot rim, the largest 5mm wide, and quite heavy rubbing to the gilt keyline around the foot rim. The gilt knop band also shows quite heavy rubbing in places. The remaining gilt highlights show more minor rubbing. The beads of the jewel effect banding show glazing faults across the surface but this may be as intended. Otherwise the piece shows no obvious chips, cracks, crazing or evidence of restoration.
