A Ruger Mark I Target Pistol Box and Instruction Manual

A vintage two-piece cardboard box for a Ruger Mark I Target Pistol accompanied by a factory instruction manual. The box lid is finished in yellow with a red vertical stripe along the left edge. The top face features a printed black laurel wreath encircling a red stylized eagle device with a white intertwined SR monogram. The left side of the lid is printed with RUGER MARK I. One end of the box bottom features an orange and yellow printed label with black text reading RUGER MARK I, .22 L. RIFLE - BULL BARREL, and TARGET PISTOL. Below this, the label reads Catalog No. T-512 5 1/2" Bbl., though the catalog number and barrel length have been partially obscured with black permanent marker. The lower portion of the label identifies the manufacturer as STURM, RUGER & CO., INC. / SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A. The interior of the box is white, and the sides of the base are finished in black. The accompanying paper instruction manual is titled RUGER Mark I Target Model and Standard Model and features black and white illustrations of the pistols on the front cover. The lower right corner of the manual cover bears the printed date 1-16-67. The manufacturer name and location are printed at the bottom of the manual cover, matching the box label.
