With slightly curved fullered blade (some scattered surface rust and staining) double-edged at the point, the forte on one side etched with crowned cypher of Nicholas II, and with the Imperial eagle between sprig of foliage on the other, the back of the forte etched 'Zlatoust' in Russian, ricasso stamped with two crowned 'A' marks on one side, regulation brass-mounted hilt including beaked pommel pierced for a sword-knot, the back cast with laurel (cypher of Nicholas II removed during the shashka's working life), and ribbed wooden grip, in original wood-lined black leather scabbard with brass locket, chape and suspension mount, the last with suspension ring and remains of leather straps
