Note
Mikhail Sergeevich Bashilov (1821-1870) first became known through a group of twenty illustrations for A.P. Golitsynskii's literary sketches. His representations of the Russian common man made Bashilov's career, and he became known as one of the most prominent Russian illustrators of the 19th century. Many of these sketches served as models for the Gardner Factory.
