A SAFAVID-STYLE SAMSON POTTERY VASE
France, late 19th century
Of pyriform shape, rising from a straight circular foot to a fine tapering neck, underglaze decorated in black on a turquoise ground with storks, gazelles and Chinese style lions (qilin) preying on deer interspersed by sprays of vegetation and flowers, Samson mark to base, 24.5cm high.
