Caspall, Fire & Light in the Home pre-1820 (2000), p. 244, Figure 557, illustrates an almost identical wall sconce. However, the Caspall example is engraved with a ship in its lowest cartouche, formed from punched stars, whilst the sconce in this lot is decorated with a ship to the upper cartouche with a lion's head below.
