A SET OF FOUR LACQUERED WOOD CALLIGRAPHY PANELS
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
Each panel is of rectangular form with three columns of inscriptions written by Wen Fanggang (1733-1818) in running script. All characters are carved in relief and picked out in creamy white. The top right hand corner of each panel is carved with a seal in red reading Suzhai, Studio of Su, ending with the signature, Fanggang, followed by a seal in red, Tanxi, and, on two panels, Weng Fanggang yin.
Each (including wood frames): 10 7/8 x 30 1/8 in. (27.5 x 76.5 cm.)
