A SHIRVAN KARAGASHLI RUG, EAST CAUCASUS

circa 1870

approximately 150 by 94cm; 4ft. 11in., 3ft. 1in.

Condition Report:
Orientation as in photograph in catalogue. Pile very good overall, even 3mm. Original flatweave at both ends and partial original macrame ends as visible in image; side cords original, with herringbone tape stitched to reverse on all four sides for protection. Very minor even oxidisation to the very dark brown, for example to the highlight edges to the motifs. Slight oxidisation to the reds in the second harshang palmette. Overall in fantastic condition and a very good example.
