A SILK HERIZ RUG, NORTHWEST PERSIA

circa 1890
approximately 183 by 132cm; 6ft., 4ft. 4in.

Condition Report:
Rugs is slightly 'waisted' and widens to 140cm at lower end. Very good condition overall. Dense lustrous silk, approx 2mm in depth. Minute repaired vertical split about 2 cm in length in lower right hand corner of field. Original flatweave and knotted fringing at both ends, with some minor losses to fringes. Ends and flatweave are backed with cotton tape stitched down. Sides partially reovercast. Generally in excellent condition. A smart rug with unusual overall design.
