A SMALL WHITE JADE CARVING OF A CAPARISONED ELEPHANT, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The animal is carved standing foursquare with its head turned to one side, its long facial features and rippled skin well defined. The saddle blanket is incised to the top with a yinyang symbol in a quatrefoil cartouche, the sides decorated with bats and waves above pendant tassels. The stone is of an even white tone with some small russet inclusions.
