A SPINACH-GREEN JADE 'CHRYSANTHEMUM' WASHER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The washer is carved in the form of a large chrysanthemum flower, with an intricate network of overlapping petals, growing from a leafy stem, carved to the underside with exquisitely-rendered leafy tendrils. The shoulders are carved and pierced with a pair of chrysanthemum-bud handles. The stone is of a rich dark spinach tone, with occasional black speckled inclusions.
