A SPINNING CLOWN CAST IRON SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET

The early 20th century target is finely cast with whimsical detail and it displays the clean, smoother surface that older iron exhibits. This variation, one of four similar clown variations produced by H.C. Evans, has a hole through the third button and is typically described as a spinner target, one that would have added rotating end-over-end movement and flair to a shooting gallery. It is most often attributed to the Chicago target firm of H.C. Evans, though it could have been made by Evans' Chicago rival Emil R. Hoffman and Son.
