(A) SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION MUSKET.

Bright finished barrel with crisp "AR / P" inspection and "V / P" eagle head proofs. Tang is dated "1847". Springfield lock dated "1848". Walnut stock with nicely carved "MM" initials and standard styled iron mounts. "25" rack numbers observed on barrel towards breech and on the left side of the stock. A "64" is also stamped on the butt plate. Includes "US" marked bayonet. CONDITION: Very Good. Metal is largely bright and clean, some components showing more patina and older oxidation spotting. Stocks are dark with impressions throughout. No forward band spring is present. Bore has some expected black powder abrasion.
